Prophetic Vision: A Blank Bank Check

Do you put much stock in a personalized blank, bank check or are you the type that doesn’t particularly care?  Beyond that, do you even use checks anymore since many people pay for most things electronically these days? For some banking insight, continue reading.

Upon awakening the morning of January 23, 2021, the Spirit realm opened up, and I received the following vision:

A blank check appeared before me in the Spirit revealing these specific things:

  • A white background
  • A bold, red border all the way around the check
  • Bearing the check number 175
  • Two-thirds of the way down on the left-hand side where the name of the institution is normally listed, the words, Thomas Edward Bank, appeared in bold, blue ink on the first line, and Est. 1876 on the second.

As near as I could determine in real life, there’s never been a bank bearing the name of Thomas Edward.

A lot of the time, what manifests in the Spirit realm parallels what’s going on in the physical one.  Since there’s not a bank with the name Thomas Edward, I deem more emphasis should be given to the spiritual aspect.

A brief history of America’s banking industry:

Quite possibly, one of the first questions we might want to ask is, “What was significant about the year 1876 as it pertained to the banking industry in our country?”

The ending of the American Civil War on May 9, 1865, gave rise to the railroad construction boom.  35,000 miles of new tracks were laid across the country between approximately the years 1866-1873. With railroads being the country’s largest non-agricultural employers, various industries, including banks, were investing their money into railroads.

The first transcontinental railroad was completed on May 10, 1869. Jay Cooke & Company, a major bank, invested heavily in the construction of a second transcontential railroad, but it was forced into bankruptcy on September 18, 1873, resulting in a panic in which at least 100 banks failed when depositors demanded their money.

With roughly 25% of the nation’s railroads falling into bankruptcy and 18,000 businesses failing in two years, the nationwide unemployment had risen to 14% by 1876.

Ulysses S. Grant, the 18th President of our country, served from March 4, 1869, until March 4, 1877.  Dark, heavy economic clouds hung over Grant’s second term of office. He took sides with the business leaders from the eastern part of our country.  Their cumulative ideas did not mitigate the continuing financial disaster.

When Grant departed from office in 1877, the ongoing nationwide financial depression sparked massive railroad strikes which brought the trains to a screeching halt.

Rutherford B. Hayes, who served as our country’s 19th president from 1877 to 1881, sent federal troops to several states to stop the railroad strikes. The altercations left many dead and injured.

The American landscape changed dramatically following the Civil War with the advent of the industrial revolution wherein many people moved from the rural areas to cities.

Here were some major factors/considerations for creating the National Bank Act in 1863, thirteen years before the information on the check (1876) which appeared in the Spirit on January 23, 2021:

  • Provide federal war loans
  • Establishment of a national currency
  • Mitigation of the financial crisis during the Civil War
  • Suspension by banks of payments in gold or silver coins for paper currency (bills or notes) in December of 1861
  • Inability of Americans to convert bank notes into coins
  • The Legal Tender Act of 1862 which allowed the government to issue paper money (greenbacks) that was not backed by gold or silver and required creditors to accept it at face value.

The Federal Reserve Act was enacted in 1913 which created the Federal Reserve System. It is still in force and effect today.

Plugging in some symbolism for this prophetic vision:

Banks are symbolic of heaven which is God’s treasury; Jesus; sure thing (“You can take it to the bank!”); wealth or money; your place of employment; storehouse; or your heart.

Regarding the blank bank check, red, white and blue signal patriotism as those are America’s colors.  Individually, red speaks of redemption, blue of the color of heaven, and white is purity, holiness, and righteousness.

There’s no exact interpretation for the number 175.  Putting the three numbers together, we find that 100 symbolizes the children of the promise; 70 represents perfection (maturity) of spiritual order; release from captivity (Israel was in captivity in Babylon for 70 years – Jeremiah chapters 20-22; 24-29; 34-35; and 52); an increase; and complete rest. 5 is God’s grace to man and man’s responsibility, abundance, favor, and multi-tasking.

Portions of the check were incomplete such as the date, the name on the account, the amount of the check, the memo in the lower left-hand corner to indicate why the money was being spent, and the signature.

A blank check could emphasize the verbiage, “You have a blank check to do whatever or to purchase anything you desire.”  In other words, there’s no limit.  The account cannot be overdrawn.

Money is one of those symbolisms which has either a real strong, positive aspect or negative one.

Positive:

#1. Faith

#2. Gifts or talents

#3. Blessing as a result of putting God first in your life

#4. Planting a seed and how you use it

#5. Purchase rights

#6. Making a sacrifice or offering

Negative:

#1. Greed which negates a person’s spiritual life

#2. Worldly power

#3. Bribes

#4. The love it which is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10)

#5. Conducting commercial activity in church (Matthew 21:12 where Jesus entered the temple and overturned the tables of the moneychangers)

#6. Can lead to a betrayal depending upon which master one chooses.  Jesus warns that we cannot serve two masters, i.e., Him or mammon. We must choose one or the other, however. (Matthew 6:24)

On the basic subject of money, there’s nothing inherently wrong with it as it’s the Lord our God who gives us the ability to get wealth according to Deuteronomy 8:18. “And you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

Do you deem there’s a slight temptation to emphasize just the first part of this verse about the ability to get the wealth from God without consideration of how we can use it to help establish His (New Testament) covenant on the earth today?

The defining aspect of wealth and money is a heart issue which most things in life ultimately boil down to.

How do we view money in our heart?  There’s really no way to hide this for any extended period of time because ultimately the fruit of our life will reveal it. https://sheilaeismann.com/snare-alert/

Decoding the blank bank check prophetic vision:

A major clue to decoding this prophetic vision could reside within the meaning of the name of the bank on the check.

Thomas’ name appeared first, and the literal meaning of his name means A Twin. The suggested character quality is seeker of truth and accompanying lifetime scripture verse is Psalm 63:1,

“O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.”

Since my family lives in the desert, I can attest as to how valuable water is.  Growing up and working long hours in the fields on Sage Creek Farms, there were times when I became very thirsty if I’d forgotten to bring along some water. I couldn’t wait to get home and drink from a cool water pitcher, especially during July when harvesting hay for our cows.  Some days were literally 101 degrees in the shade with no shade!

Edward portrays a prosperous guardian for both the literal meaning of the name along with the suggested character quality. Psalm 37:37 rounds out the lifetime scripture verse,

“Mark the blameless man, and observe the upright;
For the future of that man is peace.”

How important is absolute truth to you?  Have you ever believed something so intently only to find out it was completely false?  Can you recall how you felt after you found out you’d been duped?

Truth is a choice with very real, daily consequences.  Absolute truth can only be found in God’s word.  There’s an additional point regarding this as truth is not man’s opinion of God’s word.  This is how cults are sometimes formed.

The name Thomas means A Twin which could be the two sides of truth, i.e., objective truth (God’s word) and subjective truth (man’s opinion of God’s word). Or take any other random topic as the same test can be applied. Have you ever subscribed to subjective truth?  If so, what was it, and what did it take to correct it?  How long did this process take?

This is a pretty zany example, but it does serve the purpose of my query in this week’s blog post.  Suppose you subjectively believed that the earth was flat. If you took a trip around the world, even if it wasn’t in 80 days, you would come to your point of destination.  If the world was flat, you’d fall off the edge into space!

Truth is the first emphasis in the name of the bank on the blank check. The second one is observing the life of a righteous man which leads to peace even in the midst of chaos and calamity.  Psalm 37, which accompanies the name Edward, is chock full of truth and Godly wisdom.  There’s a stark contrast in the verses regarding a righteous man versus a wicked one.

Our spiritual bank accounts compared to our physical ones:

I love reading the first chapter of the book of Ephesians as it makes me feel like one of the world’s wealthiest people! In my account, I have redemption, forgiveness, grace, wisdom, prudence, inheritance, and adoption into the kingdom of heaven where I have a permanent seat at the table.

We have a choice as to where we bank while here on earth, both physically and spiritually.  A physical choice would be XYZ bank, for example, and after accepting Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior, we open our spiritual bank account which already has our deposits frontloaded. Wow, talk about a good deal!

Unlike our physical banks which may have limited funds in them from time to time, our heavenly bank accounts are limitless and cannot be overdrawn.

Prophetic Insights for Daily Living:

Every bank has a brand and reputation. Typically, there’s a slogan which accompanies the bank’s name.

Inherent within the message from the Lord via this prophetic vision is an invitation which reads,

“You are invited to open an account with Thomas Edward Bank where you’re guaranteed God’s truth and a prosperous spiritual future.”

This timely prophetic vision is challenging all of us to examine where we’re “spiritually banking” as our true treasures are to be stored in heaven. (Matthew 6:21)
