What could a delivery truck & a dolly have to do with my miracle? Everyday holds the possibility of miracles, so I would like to share mine which I hope will greatly encourage you!
Miracles are typically associated with healings, deliverances, provision, or actions, answers, and solutions that are beyond human understanding or capability; however, my miracle pertains to protection.
On March 28, 2023, at approximately 9:45 a.m., we were traveling on the busiest north-south traffic artery in our valley nearest to where we currently reside. Thousands of cars travel this route every day, especially with the massive influx of people who’ve moved here in the past three years. Suffice it to say, the newly transplanted drivers don’t necessarily drive the same way the locals have for decades, which lends a new definition to driving defensively.
We were driving northbound in the inside lane of four lanes of traffic traveling at least 50 mph.
Suddenly, the back door of a delivery truck opened, and a dolly flew out of the backend and moved vertically across into our lane of traffic.
Miraculously enough, it literally stopped about 1 foot to the passenger side of our car by the front tire.
In the natural law of physics, there’s no way this dolly should have stopped where it did given the rate at which it flew from the back of the truck and moved across the lane of traffic and considering the rate at which we were traveling which was the speed limit.
Initially, I thought it was a hand truck that would normally be used by the delivery truck driver, but I recognized the four wheels on the bottom of the flat surface of the dolly.
A dolly has a raised, flat platform that typically has four wheels whereas a hand truck is made with an L-shaped design with an upright handle, two wheels, and a small bottom ledge to stack boxes and those sorts of things when delivering.
Thankfully, the cars in the right lane were traveling far enough behind us that they saw the dolly in front of them and veered to the right side of the four-lane highway to avoid hitting the dolly which was about 4-5 feet in length and about 3 feet wide.
The driver of the delivery truck looked in his rearview mirror and eventually stopped his truck on the far right-hand side of the road.
When I arrived at my scheduled appointment and the nurse took my vitals, I’d never had that high blood pressure recording in all my born days!
While my daddy was the king of the one-liners, my sweet mama would come up with one of her own every now and then. I could hear her voice, “Now that would make your blood run cold!” Alas, I think the delivery truck and dolly incident just might have affected my blood pressure in one way or another.
Angels Watching Over You.
Have you ever felt the strong presence of God and his angels in your midst? Well, I certainly did after this harrowing encounter! There must have been at least one angel positioned on that four-lane road ahead of time that was assigned to stop the dolly.
Angelic activity can be tied to miracles as we read about when the Apostle Peter was freed from prison in Acts 12:5-19.
“Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church. And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison. Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, ‘Arise quickly!’ And his chains fell off his hands. Then the angel said to him, ‘Gird yourself and tie on your sandals’; and so he did. And he said to him, ‘Put on your garment and follow me.’ So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision. When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.
“And when Peter had come to himself, he said, ‘Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectation of the Jewish people.’
“So, when he had considered this, he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying. And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer. When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. But they said to her, ‘You are beside yourself!’ Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, ‘It is his angel.’
“Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. But motioning to them with his hand to keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, ‘Go, tell these things to James and to the brethren.’ And he departed and went to another place.
“Then, as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter. But when Herod had searched for him and not found him, he examined the guards and commanded that they should be put to death.”
Praying Psalm 91 Daily – Safety Of Abiding In The Presence of God.
It’s instructive and encouraging to note from the above passage of scripture regarding the Apostle Peter’s miraculous prison release that prayer plays such a vital role in all that we do in our lives.
As part of my daily devotions, I pray Psalm 91:1-16 aloud. I declare it into the atmosphere.
I don’t do this as some sort of incantation with improper motives. God is large and in charge of everything in my life, and I honor Him and His word that He wrote through His anointed servants.
“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust.’
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler
And from the perilous pestilence.
He shall cover you with His feathers,
And under His wings you shall take refuge;
His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night,
Nor of the arrow that flies by day,
Nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness,
Nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
And ten thousand at your right hand;
But it shall not come near you.
Only with your eyes shall you look,
And see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.”
There have been several powerful, prophetic words circulated of late regarding the release of multitudes of angels. They are being dispatched from the throne room of heaven to help in various ways.
“Are they [angels] not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?” (Hebrews 1:14)
In checking the Greek word for ministering, we find Strong’s G3010, leitourgikos, (pronounced li-toorg-ik-os’), and means relating to the performance of service, employed in ministering.1
Would you have previously thought that angels are employed? In reality, they have the same Boss, if you will, that all of us do.
The Lord Jesus Christ is a fabulous employer, and His benefit package beats anything on earth!
“And whatever you do, do it heartily, as to the Lord and not to men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ.” (Colossians 3:23-24)
Holy Spirit Gifts of Miracles.
Despite the corrections needed and brought by the Apostle Paul, The New Testament church at Corinth was a very spiritually gifted church. When instructing them on the Holy Spirit’s gifts of miracles, he stated, “But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.” (1 Corinthians 12:7) The working of miracles is mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:10.
The reason these are called manifestation or situational gifts is that Holy Spirit causes them to manifest at the time needed for specific situations such as knowledge, wisdom, healings, faith, miracles, etc. from which everyone profits or benefits.
The Purpose Of A Miracle Is To Glorify God.
One can only imagine what might have been going through the hearts and minds of the Israelites or Jesus’s followers who were present when they witnessed any of the following miracles:
The parting of the Red Sea (Exodus 14)
When the walls of Jericho fell (Joshua 6)
The three Hebrew children Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego’s surviving the fiery furnace (Daniel 3:8-28)
Daniel emerging alive from the lion’s den (Daniel 6:6-23)
The prophet Elijah raised the Shunamite woman’s son from the dead (2 Kings 4:8-37)
Jesus’s virgin birth (Matthew 1:18-25)
Jesus raising Jairus’s daughter from the dead (Luke 8:40-55)
Jesus feeding the multitudes (Matthew 14:13-21, 32-38)
And the biggest, most important one of all, which is Jesus’s resurrection from the dead (Luke 24:1-49)
Prophetic Insights For Daily Living.
#1. Have you ever witnessed or received a miracle or known of someone who has? How did this affect you spiritually, and did it increase your faith?
#2. It’s important to testify of God’s miracle-working power in our everyday lives to help encourage others and build us up in our most holy faith. (Jude 1:20)
Also, speaking of miracles helps to stir the hearts of unbelievers, so hopefully, it will draw them to Jesus and His gift of salvation for their lives.
#3. Do you believe that God’s angelic army is active on the earth today? It’s through the Holy Spirit’s gift of discerning of spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10c) that we can see either fallen (demons) or good angels.
And we know from reading Psalm 91 earlier in my prophetic blog post that God’s word states in verse 11,
“For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.”
It’s possible to feel the presence of angels even if we can’t readily see them. We can know deep within our hearts and spirits that they are present, which is so comforting.
There are many kinds of angels. This is a separate subject and teaching in and of itself.
Miracles weren’t just for Old and New Testament times because they continue to happen every day, and God’s angels are on assignment everywhere!
“You are the God who performs miracles;
you display your power among the peoples.” (Psalm 77:14 NIV)
“Don’t you believe that I [Jesus] am in the Father and the Father is in me? The words I say are not my own but are from my Father who lives in me. And he does his work through me. Just believe it—that I am in the Father and the Father is in me. Or else believe it because of the mighty miracles you have seen me do.” (John 14:10-11 TLB)
